I am finally preparing to Varnish my Coho (hull #1)and have two questions: Is a final sanding with 80 grit paper a good base for the varnish? I have read about the various brand names of good quality varnish. I can get Pratt & Lambert Spar Varnish at 50% off through a friend. I plan on buying a gallon because I am already planning hull #2, a stripper. Is this good varnish or should I go with one of the brands listed in previous posts?
