Well I am here to say it does work! I used packing tape, the clear stuff and made sure I went all the way around the boat so it would hold onto itself. The tape didn't fall off, didn't leave any glue, and didn't take off any wood. I did however use wire to join the hull because I didn't care if there were holes underneith, and I did use 6 wires on the deck to make sure the panels aligned correctly, the tape can't do that effectively, especially the ends of the panels.
