I am building my first boat now, and the most pleasant suprise so far has been the near total lack of odor from the West Systems epoxy that I have been using. I realize that the fumes are still venting, but the odor is truly next to nothing.
My biggest fear upon starting my kayak was that 5 minutes after I mixed my first batch of epoxy, my wife would throw me and the boat out of the house! I can't say how happy I am with the low odor of the West Systems. If combustion is your concern, though good ventilation is the only answer.
