If you are interested in something quick easy and cheap to build for your daughter then you may want to consider the Payson/Bolger Instant kayak (in Payson's "Instant Boats") or easier still Roy Underhills Canvas Kayak (in Underhill's "The Woodwright's Ecclectic Workshop"). I will probably be building a modified version of the Instant kayak for my nephew. Cost should come in well under $100. The Instant Kayak is the more seaworthy of the two , but the canvas kayak could be built in an afternoon, and paddled as soon as the paint dries.

If there is a Date for the Lake Union roundup, I'd like to know when, as I would try to make it.
