: In my hometown of Columbia, SC we have two basic types
: of paddling: shallow, wide rivers or a man made lake.
: I am looking for a kayak to take in the rivers, but it

: rocks. This is not serious whitewater, just riffles,
: etc. Is is possible/advisable to take a strip kayak in
: such a river? How much 'glass should be applied? Any?
: I am hoping that I don't have to buy a plastic boat.

Yes, you can get away with it on class 1 white water
You don't want to make a habit of it but a stripper
can handle a lot of abuse. 2 layers of 6 oz cloth should
be enough to protect from the abrasion.

The bottom will get scratched up and may look a little
ragged after a while but the damage will probably be
cosmetic not structural.
