Interesting about the toughness of the epoxy. I just bought a 3 gal kit of "Ding-All" epoxy to do my 'yak. My friend in the surfboard business sold it to me, and said it is *the* stuff surfboard builders use - He explained that adding UV inhibitors to epoxy resin makes it cure brittle, much like polyester resin. The fellow who "invented" Ding-All solved that problem and lowered the viscosity to boot so it wets out cloth very easily.

My guess is that there are no UV inhibitors in your epoxy. That is OK, cuz we use varnish to get around it. With surfboards, I guess they wouldn't think of using varnish - - At least the local mfr does not. I'll post on the overall results using Ding-All, as it is very reasonably priced. I paid $79.95 for the 3 gal kit, but that may be wholesale. I have the distributor's shipping label, I'm going to give them a call myself and see if they accept retail sales . . . 8-)
