veneer "onlays"

In Response To: inlaying Pygmies (Chuck Bollong)
I've had all kinds of fun with inlays. Well, really on-lays i bond them right to the surface of the boat. Either plywood or strip.
I first skim coat the wood with epoxy then use epoxy or some other adhesive to bond the veneer to the deck, after some careful sanding and cleaning, I glass right over the decoration. With careful filling and sanding, you can hardly tell it is not inlayed.

The mallard duck pictured is one I made for Dick Gamble's Outer Island.
