Jack:
Not a rant or a flame.
Thanks for the comments. While I am not an expert builder or paddler, I do not advocate chilly water paddling without the appropriate gear. By the way, at this time of year I am only on smaller lakes and rivers where I am less likely to get dumped accidentally. I have to admit that just dipping my toes in when moving my yak into the water is pretty numbing.
Special gear for special conditions are important.
Hope everybody thinks before they go out.
It is too bad about the lost canoists and yakers. Inexperience in adverse conditions can lead to problems in many normally relaxing activities. I've seen lots while cycling and hiking that reminds me to be aware, careful, and understand my limits under whatever conditions are present.
Enjoy the building everyone, Pete Albany, NY
