Update

When I got home last night I checked the 5-min epoxy joints. Only one of them held for a few hours.

So I cut a fresh scarf and tried wood glue. I clamped the joint together for a few minutes and then open the joint back up added a tad more glue, clamped it up overnight. This morning I checked the joints and they all seem nice and strong.

I should have done from the beginning what I normally do for scarfing my full sized strips. Live and learn or is it trial and error.
