Hi Stan;
From what I understand of the way this particular company makes some of its surfboards, They finish the epoxy with a coat or two of polyester resin. Not for the UV protection, but to leave them a hard surface to finish. I've been told that epoxy is too soft to take a good polish. It is tougher than Polyester resin, but not as hard. They use PR instead of varnish because it's $15/gal and produces a super shine. So, even though they claim no additional UV protection is needed, you'll have to coat it with something just to polish it. I'm thinking of sticking with standard spar varnish when I get to that point.
You might call the distributor and ask if specs on the epoxy are available - I never received any, in fact I don't even have their catalog yet!
Best Regards, Spidey
