Ya STRIP. Then ya strip the pants. . . with western RED cedar. Use the vinegar to clean up the epoxy and the salt on your tequila. If by then you're not red or your pants aren't red - you'll be seeing red - or talking to Rehd. Has worked every time i've tried it!!
