I located the rear bulkhead about 6" behind the rear lip of the coaming. I use this space as a "day hatch". It's not as good as a day hatch because with a real day hatch you don't need to remove the sprayskirt, but it's better than nothing.

I'm aware of the amount of water I'll take in when I capsize, but I chose to do it anyway.
