: After repainting my CLC stitch-N-glue this spring, I took boat to a new
: place...the Chatahoochee River. Sadly, I discovered that while boat was
: sitting half on bank, half in water, the clay on the river bottom and
: whatever was suspended and got stirred up, left big orange clay lines on
: boat...much of it seems to be concentrated at the water line. Anyway,
: regular dishpan soap and lots of elbow grease seem unable to remove this
: unsightly blemish. I guess because clay is made up of such fine particles,
: it has infiltrated my paint. Are there any cleaners that might be able to
: take care of this. Any suggestions?
Dave,
Not sure if most folks here are familiar with Georgia red clay but I am pretty sure that sandpaper will remove it. Just kidding. I would just work my way up through stronger cleaners. Might try something like simple green. Tough stuff but eco friendly. If you're gonna shoot the 'hooch maybe you should have painted your boat dark orange. What part of the 'hooch are you near? I live in the Atlanta metro area.
