I glassed a sailboard skeg box into an old whitewater boat. I need a screwdriver to put the (standard sailboard) skeg on or take it off. The boat tracks wonderfully, but is a pain to board on the beach due to the immovable skeg. That, and the danger of snapping the thing off due to its rigid attachment, would make a retractable skeg a better choice.
