Hey Greg,
I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that I will glass the lip after stacking the strips.
I think a horizontally wider, vertically thinner coaming lip holds a sprayskirt better than a horizontally narrower, vertically thicker coaming lip.
I plan to be able to lift my boat by the coaming too.
Thanks for catching my omission--I don't want people to think that you can make a strong enough thin lip out of unglassed wood--that's probably asking for trouble.
