I Also had the same problem I stripped around it on my 17' but I planed it down even on my 19"(under construction). I also could not get the strips to laydown properly in the hollows at the ends on the 17" so I modifed the form to have an outer form which allowed me to use wedges to get the strips where I wanted them.., i think it will give the boat a finer entry/exit line (less wake). Hope to have some pictures up next week.
