: I ordered a Lge. Feathercraft rudder and when it arrived I discovered there
: was no mounting bracket. I was told these brackets have to be fabricated
: by the builder. Is this true, and if so, is a wooden mount strong enough,
: or should I have a metal one made?
I installed one on one of my fg singles, an older "Escape" and I sure like it. It didn't come with a bracket as it was intended to have the pin inserted into a prepared hole or socket, usually a large hole filled with epoxy and redrilled to accept the pin. You may have to flatten the very end of the stern top to create a base for the rudder. You may also have to sacrifice and move forward any eyes or u bolts for grab handles that may be too far aft. Good luck. Ray
