When UPS went on strike a few years back I ran out of wood flour and silica thickner while building a sailboat. I took some of the finest sawdust I could gather and worked it through some very fine mesh screen. It worked pretty good but was still more coarse than wood flour, I guess that would also give it more tensile strength. Ralph
: I know I'm asking for it, but here is my question anyway: When I ran about a
: cup short of wood flour in building my kayak, the folks at MAS said that
: clean sawdust might do in a pinch as homemade wood flour. In a posting by
: Lee on CLC's forum, he mentioned whole wheat flour as a filler/thickener
: (not in a good way). I'm no engineer, and not even much of a boatbuilder,
: but would it work?
