Hello all,
looking back in time, it was predicted.
I live on the water, half of my neighbours have sail boats, & the other half, god forbid, power boats.
so I decided to sail !
clc sells sailing rig kits & sail boats kits. there are also off the shelf kayak sailing rigs from "easy rider", these are the guys that advertise on the 1st page of sk mag.
I know nothing about sailing so the 1st thing I'll do is go to sailing school.
I'm not sure if to vote for a kayak sailing rig or a wooden sail boat kit, so I'm looking for the following info:
1.
anybody has experience with clc's "Jimmy Skiff" ?
can it withstand a reasonable wind speed ?
is there enough space in it for a long legged like me (6'2" tall) ?
is there enough space in it for a 2nd person ?
anybody heard of a similar product from another manufacturer ?
2.
the catamaran or trimaran rigs for kayaks:
I can understand how a trimaran works, but I can't understand how the catamaran works, & out of these 2 options I prefer the catamaran because it's smaller, lighter etc' .
how could it be that the kayak doesn't turn to the catamaran side ?
& how could it be that the catamaran doesn't go up in the air & the kayak capsizes when the wind comes from the catamaran side, if the sails are positioned on one side of the structure (the kayak) ?
can a kayak sailing rig withstand a reasonable wind speed ?
If I vote for kayak sailing rig, I will attach it to my Coho. any body tried it before ?
did anybody made an expedition type tour with a kayak/catamaran sailing rig ? info ?
any help appreciated,
Erez
