Hi Jason;

You are right - The surface was ready for varnish. I wanted a slight build up so I could use the fairing board for one last swipe at perfection - Getting the surface dead fair so it looks good when I varnish and buff. I know the varnish will afford some buildup also, but it seemed better to attack epoxy with the 80 grit fairing board. I obviously can't selectively remove material with the board when the randomly located pits require sanding, however . . . 8-(

Thanks for the suggestion, I may just end up doing that if these fisheyes continue to plague me.
