I cast my vote with the "glass deck first, then install coaming" camp. When you're glassing the deck, it's best to have as few interruptions as possible so you can get a nice clear wetout. Navigating around an already-installed coaming will slow you down some. Besides, the fillet between the coaming and the deck will make it plenty strong.

: PS. The coaming that I'm using is made from 0.25" by 2" by
: 0.75" birch and purpleheart pieces with hopefully steambent
: laminations of the same in 1/8" thickness strips for the coaming rim.
