Deck line layout

Getting to the stage where I got to decide how to lay out the deck lines. I'm thinking of carrying a spare storm paddle on deck. Anyone have a layout that they're particularly fond of? I hear that Mariner kayaks have an unusual layout but I haven't found their website that informative on this subject.
