Judging from the boats you own, I guess you are talking about flat water - not whitewater - in those rivers.
Most (All?) of the plans available for a person your size are 17' or longer. Great for the ocean or large lakes, but it may not have the maneuverability needed in a river. A few months ago, I was looking for a river/lake kayak in the 12-14 foot range. After several postings here, it became very clear that there are no good options out there in that length. I ended up designing a 12.5' kayak, using my Walden Vision as a starting point, and modifying it to eliminate some of the undesirable characteristics, as well a enhancing the favorable ones. I plan to start construction in a few weeks. Looks good on paper, but time will tell.
If a 17-18' kayak will suit your needs, that's great - there are a lot out there to choose from. But if you need a shorter boat, you may be on your own.
And for the rest of you - if there is a really good smaller boat plan out there, where were you when I asked the question? Oh well, designing was a lot of fun.
Good luck,
Ken
