I'm getting ready to cut out my plywood for the Rob-Roy canoe and the plans were folded in an 8 1/2 x 11 envelope. Hmmmm.... Made the plans about 1" shorter with all the folds. Trying to press them out and pin down was a futile endeavor. I remembered a post, months ago, about ironing them out. I believe it was Spidey's handywork.??? Anyway, I dug out the ole steam iron, unsused since they went to wash and wear at the ole P.O. ! It didn't work( the steam ) so, I went into the bathroom and turned on the shower to hot only. Got the place all steamed up and turned the water down. I then hung towels over the curtain rod and placed the plans over that. I left them there for about 10 to 15 minutes and went back to find nice limp plans. Turned it all off and took the plans into the back bedroom ( my sewing room ) and got out my cutting board and placed the plans on it. Started to iron them and amazingly enough, they came out very smooth. There are still marks where the folds were, but, they lay flat. :) :) I immediately rolled them up and placed rubberbands on them. Now, to the garage and the plywood. It's still too full to work in, but, I can work out on the drive in front. The sun will cause a little darkening of the wood, but, that's what the ROS is for. I'll get the plywood cut out and since this is a simple boat, it is made up of four identicle pieces. I will cut out the rough shape and clamp them together and bandsaw them all at once. I would use the jig saw if I were doing one at a time, but, the jig( sabre )saw blade has a tendency to curve out or in, when you turn your cut. On an inside curve, you will undercut your line and..........:( That's about all I will have time to do today.

On Evolution:

I was out earlier and a bunch of the guys rode by on their scooters and I felt, like always, that little feeling that says, " Man, a nice ride in the mountains, to the lake would be Super." But, the thought of heading up to the lake gave me yet another little feeling that said, " Man, a nice paddle ON that lake would be even nicer." So, as they rode by and waved, I just waved back and smiled. Then turned to the task at hand.

My younger brother is making a little 8' "motorized" fishing boat for the lakes and rivers here, and has a problem with his stitching, so, is bringing it down to work on it together. :) Progress! It should start moving right along now. He's also going to help me set up a web-site when the boats are done. Pictures to be taken in progress. He's the one who turned me onto this boat thing in the first place, before I found this site.
