: I have mulled long and hard on the scarf joint issue. Pete Czerpak will even say procrastinated. It was the detail that knocked me into summer recess.I'm going back into action this week and here's what I'm doing. First I got one of those little pull saws for a fine cut. I'm just doing a straight butt joint so it doesn't slide all over the place. Next I just received my order of glue from Garrett Wade in New York. They have a thick high tack glue with filler in it and it's brown in color.From the description and appearance this looks like it will do. The problem I was having is the end grain was soaking up the epoxy and leaving no real tack. Anyway,it's real messy trying to deal with a two part epoxy on a detail job like this. This GW glue is supposed to chip off the outside real easily. Epoxy leaves a messy joint area. I'll post at the end of the week on the outcome and the GW glue stock # etc. JJ.
