: I'm planning on starting the 18' night heron in a few weeks. I've decided on
: western red cedar for the construction. Are 1" x 12" x 18'
: boards advisable for full strips or should I scarf them together out of a
: smaller say 1" x 8" x 6-10' boards? Your help would be greatly
: appreciated. I'm definately open to any dimensions. Thanks.

Hi James

You would probably save bucks if you just got a couple of 1"x4" 18's and then maybe a 14' and some smaller lengths. You are only going to need a couple of full length strips and then they will get progressively shorter, down to some short filler strips. The 1 x 12's are usually more expensive as well as the longer lengths. You will save $$ if you get only the long lengths you actually need. Gotta go.
