Aha!

The reason I ordered the 14" was I figured I could always cut them down if they turned out too long - That was 12 days ago, you can't expect me to remember details forever! I guess weight and practicality are 2 good reasons to start hacking . . .

Lee, on the subject of positioning: I was planning on building my seat first, assuming the position, and marking the centerpoint of placement. Any caveats, leg position during measurement, etc., to get close the first time? I'm an inexperienced paddler and rental kayaks never fit me for beans, so this will be my first snug fitting ride - what seems right now may not seem so later.
