Shawn, you forgot to mention the "coolness factor" of the recess. ;-)

: I recessed my cockpit per the plans in Nick's book. Look on the page opposite
: the offset table for the cockpit and recess offsets. (They're in there!)
: If you don't put in the recess, the coaming is higher--a lower coaming height
: makes body maneuvering and especially rolling, easier.

: would be easier, yes, but you also have the added hassle of cutting, then

: Definitely add it for performance--as far as adding it for ease of building,
