: If you're putting on an external stem, just shape it so the point on the stem
: sits on the hull centerline. It will be noticeable when the boat is upside
: down,
Yes, it will be, but I guess its really the only way out.
but no one will see both sides at once to compare when it's right
: side up.
Having looked at the quality of the craft that you have put together I think you will understand it when I say that will see both sides at once! Great site you have built some exceptionally beautiful craft.
You might even want to plane down further, to perhaps 3/8"
: wide so the imbalance in shape is less noticeable yet.
I will have to be careful because I am nearly through in places
: You can see my bow & stern stems at the link below under "Hull
: Construction."
I have had a look at your stem pieces, once again, they are works of art. I think I had better make mine out of wood thats going to match the colour of the keel strips so that the different angles that are going to come out when I plane it down wont be so obvious.
BTW, I couldn't see your picture, I hope I've
: understood your problem properly.
You have understood my problem perfectly, (I probably explained it rather poorly) I tried to post my picture but failed!!
Many Thanks for your help. The whole problem is the 2x4 timber that comprised the strongback, we spent WEEKS setting it up and were convinced it was straight, I think we left it too long between completion of the strongback and stripping the hull, and that in the intermediate period the 2x4 twisted at the ends.
