: Has any one had trouble keeping back band attachments laminated to the deck?
: Mine aren't staying put. I am using double thickness 1/4 ply
: bonded/filleted on the back side with glass, to the underside of the deck.
: Under the stress of the backband (nicks) design they are coming off after
: about two paddles. Help. Oh yeah they are on my exped. single.

Tom:

Greetings from NY. I am using 1 inch by 1 inch by 3/4" thick purpleheart blocks glued to the bottom of the deck under the coaming with little plastic clips that come with the backband to hold it on (just installed these late last week after you saw the yak). you could probably use these blocks that I have and then sink some reasoanble size stainless eyelet in them.

it does sound like your bond is not working - have you thought about removing the amine blush from the underside of the deck? scrub, scrub, scrub, and then roughen it up and epoxy it down. are you using some silica with the epoxy too? Pete czerpak albany, NY
