I'll start this by saying wow! Those are some very beautiful boats, I have been torn between building a pair of Turns or a set of strip boats this winter and unless someone can produce even more outstanding examples I may be won over.

However, this thread just reminded me of a bad moment, and right in the middle of looking at those beautiful boats too. Last weekend I took my 3 year old son out for a day of paddeling on the Snohomish in Washington. Slidding through the water and sunlight we eventually came to the town of Snahomish where a trio of over powered, high-performance stink-sleds crashed up and down a stretch of water between two bends. The thing that made this impossible situation undeniably vial was the fact that we were tossed by those clowns. The river, not to wide, magnified the boat wake and after hitting the banks of the rock shore came hurling back creating a unpredictable, oily set of hay stacks. We were broadsided and tipped. Everone dried out ok, and for somereason my son still thinks the smell those things make is "funny but nice," but it was a good thing I wasn't loaded for duck or even fly fishing (just kidding when I'm in a boat I don't seem to have any more time available for anything but that simple, pure movement).

I'm still hot under the coller from that one and am wondering if there is a better way to monkey wrench those nefarious contraptions than to wait for the onset of cold!
