: look at kayak pictures & pick what you like.

: I have been, that's why I'm confused.

well...when I looked on yak's pics I realised this issue isn't so important. just be happy you have this board to take your confusion away.

:It doesn't worth the memory space on nick's server.

: So you're the gatekeeper of this server. For a person who can differentiate : rocket science from kayak deck
: bungees, your sentence structure could use a little help. :-P

no. I'm not the gatekeeper of this & that. I was just trying to give you the impression about the level of importance I think this issue has (low level to my opinion).

Lee has some practical considerations that seemed obvious to me,but maybe not obvious to somebody else.

here are few more:

I positioned my aft bungies far enough behind the coaming, so I will have enough space for the "take-a-part". I believe it also gives space to lean back during an eskimo roll, when/if I'll learn to do it.

lee mentioned to position the front bungies far enough to the front so it will not be in the way of your grab loop, so I add: put it even further to the front so your hands & paddle will not hit any stuff held by the bungies. I recently used a "pelican" 1200 case for my camera. it is around 8" high, & I'm happy I positioned the bungies far enough to the front, even though I have to lean forward everytime I access them. when I paddle, the paddle shaft pass very close to the case. perhaps it depends on your dimentions. my dimentions are 6'1" & I'm talking about the huge coho cockpit.

The "X-rectangular" requires just 4 deck fittings, while the 3 parrallel bungies......well, you get it. (this has to fo with lazyness)

bungie less, paddle more
