: 2. From what I've described, is this pretty typical of 2-part paints? This is
: my first experience.
That's what I found with my AwlBrite, too -- smelly (I wore a respirator) and quick-drying (~1 maybe 2 hours dry to the touch.) Don't try sanding for a few days, you'll end up with little plasticy balls under the sandpaper, just like with epoxy.
: 4. From what I've read in Interlux's painting guide (does anyone else think
: this booklet is scattered and disorganized?), I can't apply 2-part paint
: over 1-part. But, I think I can apply 1-part over 2-part, right?
Sounds right -- It doesn't make sense to put a harder coating over the top of a softer one. A thin layer of ice on a lake isn't as sturdy as a thin layer of ice over rock...
By the way, Ross, did you get the latest Sea Kayaker magazine? Betsie Bay Kayak announced their new model called the "Aral", an 18'x20.5" stitcher that weighs in at 36#, completely outfitted. I see your kayak is up to 45# already...;-)
