Hi Don;

My lip, patterned after Vaclav's is 1-1/8" wide x 1/8", albeit of fiberglass construction. So you are not too wide in some corners . . . ;-)

I can lift my kayak by the lip and shake it without fear of damage - heck I intend to sit on it so it better not break easily. I can almost imagine 1,000 years from now some archaeologist finding the coaming after the rest of the boat has disintegrated and wondering what in the heck it was used for!
