I tried using velcro, glued to the boat and closed-cell foam with contact cement, on the knee braces and seat back. The knee braces especially, failed miserably. Do these need to be glued directly, or is there an alternative?
On another note, last weekend with trials on the Spring Run, I noticed that the combination creature comfort seat and thermarest pad in the old boat is very very comfy, even better than the new carved foam seat. In my old boat, the thigh braces are glued to the boat sides and hold the seat in place. I think now that they are a little loose, but overall high marks for comfort, longevity, and ease of removal for cleaning. The thigh and knee braces stay in place, but with the seat out is easy to clean underneath. The back pad just rests on the coaming, another nice feature as it is accessible behind there. I probably will duplicate this setup in the Spring Run.
: I recently completed a pygmy coho and it turned out great. A friend is
: teaching me to roll and I dont fit the boat well. (too loose). I installed
: pygmys thigh braces but they are too small and my hips are too narrow for
: the fit I have laterally with 3/4 in. of foam. My friends white water
: kayak has a large molded thigh brace section that holds you very well. I
: am lookig for sources of materials or inserts or whatever to improve my
: fit. I live in northwest ohio. Thanks. pete wilson
