I'm of known Plat Monfort since his ferro cement days in the 70's. He is a great contributor to innovative boat construction, especially small craft. I am in awe of his geodesic aerolite boats and have often contemplated working out a proper sea kayak design. Unlike most skin boats which rely on a fairly heafty frame structure, Monfort's designs are much more delicate looking, AND feather light. I do not doubt the canoe type shapes work out well. I wonder about the longer, narrower kayak-like shapes and how they would work, in particular longitudinal rigidity. I also wonder how the deck would be done as most of Plat's designs are deck less.
