If you can store it inside that would be best. I store my boat hanging from the garage ceiling. I have straps around the boat and they are suspended from pulleys so I can drop them down easily. If they must go outside, put them where they are out of the sun. I wouldn't put a tarp directly on the boat but maybe build something to cover it and give room for it to breath.
