Longboard and adze

I've seen several folks write about using a "longboard" for sanding and fairing hulls, paddles, etc. I have a mental picture of what a "longboard" must look like but haven't seen one, haven't found one in a catalog or website and only get blank stares when I ask at local hardware stores. Can anyone point me to a place I can buy one or to plans to build one?

Also, does anyone know a source for a small curved adze?
