: I glued the frames onto my flush hatches for my CH17 last night, but when I
: tied them this morning the forward hatch didn't fit. The curvature seems
: off and it is also twisted.
: I thought I would have avoided both of these problems since I traced the
: curvature of the deck onto some cardboard and used this as a template to
: cut the curvature of the hatch frames. To prevent the hatch from twisting
: I used the concave pieces that the hatch frames were cut from to make a
: cradle in which I placed the hatch cover with a heavy weight on top while
: it cured. This worked for the rear hatch cover, but not for the forward
: hatch cover which has more of a curve.
: I managed to cut off the frames and salvage the plywood cut-out, but I am not
: sure what to do differently next time. Help.

I used pretty much the same approach as described by Craig in his reponse to your post. The curvature of our forward hatch was a little off, but not enough to worry about or cause any problems. I did not encounter any warping or twisting. Sounds like the results may depend on how cooperative your piece of plywood is.
