As the foam expands outward it produces a lot of pressure, so there is a chance it could deform or crack the hull. I have used it to seal around windows and if a little to much is used the window frame gets pushed inwards. Also, foam is heavier than air, so air space created using either bulkheads and hatches or airbags is more effective as floatation.
