In Response To: Floatation (John Monfoe)
: I am ready to start stripping but I am thinking ahead to some floatation for
: my kayak. I don't know if they will float with 1/4" wood sandwiched
: between glass or not. I will probably put expandable foam in the bow and
: stern and maybe under the deck sides.
: John
There's a thread at rec.boats.building regarding the use of expanding foam as a flotation aid and the consensus seems to be that the stuff isn't closed cell and can be prone to absorbing water over a long period of time.
