Hi Tom,
This setup is certainly feasable since I have milled many tens of thousands of feet of strips with it. The reason that some people recommend against it is because it dulls the cutting edge of the bit faster in the long run and this system is indeed difficult if you are removing large amount of material from hardwood stock.
Fortunately, here we are talking about routing mineature profiles into the most workable wood under the sun so I chose to work smarter rather than harder.
You still have to feed the strips in by hand but the fingerboards are adjusted in such a way that it takes very little pressure to feed the strips in and you can route enough bead and cove profiles for a whole double kayak in one afternoon. By the way, I am still working with the original (unsharpened)router bits and I mill hardwood as well.

Vaclav

On Vaclav's he recommeneds feeding the strips through the router with the
: force from the direction of the cutter. Everything i have read says DO NOT
: do this. I have always milled normally but is his setup feasable? He
: clamps the strips with feather boards so the don't become arrows and shoot
: across the shop.

: It would be real nice to not have to feed each strip by hand.
