That is a very sharp bend in that area. I split my first piece about 30 inches and it made the bend at the shear, but after that I just bent the strip as much as possible without a lot of stress and then added cheater strips later to fill in the gaps. Try and make the strips bend evenly so the cheater strips will look better above and below the main strips.
