Thank you to everyone for all of the excellent advice! With all of these suggestions, I should be able to come up with one of these methods that will penetrate my thick skull! I am very fired up about this next boat thanks to this bulletin board and especially Nick for hosting this board and his excellent book. (My wife may not be as enthusiastic when she notices that I am not in the house morning and night...)

Thanks again, I appreciate all of the tips offered!

: I did all of the lofting by hand on 10-10 graph paper taped together into
: large enought sheets. I found the process enjoyable and very educational.
: I really started to understand the curves of the boat, the curve of the
: shear line, waterline, etc. As this is my first boat construction, and I
: had never really thought to much about boat shapes, this was very helpful.

: I glued the graph paper to plywood with spray-on 3M adhesive which is pretty
: cool stuff. Leave the graph paper on the forms to assist duting the
: alignment on the strongback.

: Tip: (AKA - don't do what I did) On the end forms, the pointy ones defining
: the bow and stern, I left the graph paper on. I glued the little forms
: (.5, 1, 16, 16.5) to the end forms right on the paper smack between the
: appropriate lines. Seemed like a great way to get everything all lined up.
: But once I started stripping the 3M bond between the paper and wood was no
: match for the will of the cedar. This was simply corrected by some
: 'throught the end form' screws but in hind sight I wonder what I was
: thinking.
