That under deck "hatch" looks great. I wonder if the oval hatch placed in the bulkhead beind the seat will work well. I am never comfortable opening any hatch out on the water. My skin boats are without any hatches and anything that won't fit behind the seat is transported on the deck. This idea might be able to be turned into something that I can retrofit into my larger volume skin boat. I have built two CLC kayaks and haven't had a good hatch seal yet. My wife and I are building a Night Heron now and this will give a couple of things to think about.
