In Response To: deck mounted compass (Ken Rasmussen)

This one is available in at least a couple of Seattle-area kayak shops for about $50, and also from West Marine (though maybe only by catalog order). The compass (rotating bezel) securely snaps onto a 'permanently' mounted base, so you can easily remove it for security or move it to another boat with the same base, which you can buy separately.

Doesn't come with a light, though being white-on-black, it's big and easy to read in the daytime, even with water beaded on it. The two white circles on top are tilt indicators.
