Hi All,
Okay, I brought the manuals for both of my respirators home. One is a Gerson half mask respirator with replaceable cartridge and filters. The other is a Survivair Blue 2000 Half Mask Respirator.
The instruction manuals are identical.
Both companies have different filters and cartridges for different applications.
Both companies list a seperate cartridge to be used as a dust mask only.
The three cartridges we would be interested in are the HEPA filter cartridge, the Organic Vapour cartridge and the HEPA/Organic Vapour cartridge.
The HEPA filter is dust only.
The organic vapour cartridge is for epoxy and varnish
The HEPA/organic vapour is for both dust and vapours
NOTE: THERE IS NO CARTRIDGE MADE BY EITHER COMPANY THAT WILL FILTER OUT ISOCYANATES!!! In fact both manufacturers state; Following is a list of contaminants for which these respirators MUST NOT be used. (Isocyanates: TDI, HDI, MDI)
They also state; do not use this respirator if Isocyanates or other chemicals with poor warning properties are present.
Storage- both manufacturers say to store the respirator in the plastic bag that comes with it and to keep it in a cool dry place.
