: I'm considering building a "Putz" design skin boat and don't see
: any hardware provisions for securing bow and stern lines.
I saw a message a while back for a method to lock a boat to a car-top rack without ugly hardware. One suggestion was to have a cap (or cable loop?) slipped over the fore & aft stems, with a strap/cable that runs between them. The fore-aft connector strap is tightened so the loops can't slip off the ends.
If you made a good-fitting cap, or wide enough straps (or maybe a fabric sleeve, wide enough to spread the load over 2 or more ribs) you could tie your bow & stern lines to this harness. Yet the harness could be removed when you take the boat off the car.
Good luck with your project! I'm just beginning my first S&G, and hope to do a skin-on-frame sometime in the future.
