: I just finished the third filler coat of epoxy on the hull of my Georgian
: Bay. The weave texture has basically disappeared on all surfaces except
: for the keel near the bow and stern. The additional layer of glass on
: these surfaces combined with the steep dropoff has made it harder to build
: up this area. I don't want to incur the extra weight of another complete
: fill coat and was wondering if it's ok to just brush on an extra coat of
: resin where needed.
: Thanks,
: Jim
Jim,
Go ahead and put epoxy only where it is needed. Just be sure to pay attention to the usual issues associated with multiple coats - blush, need for sanding... Before applying more epoxy, you might like to use a scraper to feather in the edges where extra glass was added.
