: I am getting closer to finishing the stripping of the hull (Return). Joe
: Greenley instructions call for fiberglassing the outside of the hull first
: and then to strip the deck. Stripping the deck will take me somewhere
: between 2 weeks to 4 weeks. I am concered that I run into the curling
: problem due to moisture changes - I am working in garage. Tom Moore
: suggests the same, while Nick strips the entire boat.

: I am planning on putting the forms back in, when I don't work on the boat.

: Are there any thoughts on what the safest way to avoid curling problems. With
: fiberglass on one side, the hull won't be able to equalize any more.

Hi Andreas

I'm sure I've seen posts by either Ross, Paul Jacobsen and/or others in the past that stated that while the boat was still on the forms, they cut spreaders the same width as the forms, such as a 1 x 2 or something along those lines, and hot glued them in place near each of the form location.

My thought, though you may be too far along for that, would be to cut two sets of forms, or a set of half-forms for the hull to "rest" in while doing the deck, and to duct tape them around to keep their proper shape. Whatever curing goes on while in the half-forms, they shouldn't alter their shape at all.

I would try the spreaders, hot glueing them in place and wrapping with d-tape and that way, a chizel will remove the glue in a second, when needed. Hope that helps!
